Traveling from Cheyenne east on I80 to Nebraska. This sign was at a  rest stop.

The Pioneer traveled over this hill. The tracks are still visible.


This archway is a monument to the pioneers who traveled the Mormon, Oregon, and California Trails.


The Platte River. We are spending the night in Rock Port Missouri. I apologize for how the blog looks tonight. It has  been a problem since I started to type.

June 19, 2016  (Part 1)

Traveling east out of Burns, we discovered a huge body of water with lots of shorebirds and waterbirds. I was able to 5 new Oregon birds to my state list.
Hay harvest has begun.

Bruneau Dunes State Park.

Kids were sledding down the dunes.
We will cross the Snake River several times today.





The type of Wagon  used on the Oregon Trail.
Some of the types of things the pioneers took with them on the trip.

Some of the wagons came across on this ferry. Others went right into the river pulled by oxen or horses. It was a dangerous thing to do as the current between the three islands was very strong.
